The area is steeped in history from bronze age barrows to the buildings remaining from the Bladen Estate; a model estate developed in the early 1900s using farming methods ahead of its time.

Our parish is tucked in the north west corner of the ‘Isle of Purbeck’, lies in Hardy country and contains Clouds Hill, the last home of Lawrence of Arabia. It is surround by heath and farmland and is treasured for its peace and tranquillity, as well as providing habitat for rare wildlife. It is a place for reflection yet is within easy reach of the market towns of Dorchester, Blandford and Wareham.

To the west lies Tolpuddle, home to the Martyrs Museum and to the south are national attractions such as The Tank Museum at Bovington and Monkey World. The Jurassic Coast and maritime delights such as Poole Harbour and Weymouth Bay are in easy reach.
