We are doing our utmost to keep the shelves full and doors open whilst meeting the Government Instruction to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Can you spare just a few hours a week to help your local shop? We currently need more volunteers, ie:
Counter staff – just one weekday morning a fortnight. You need to be at the shop by 8.45am to help prepare the shop for opening and you should be away by 12.15pm. You will receive training and support in the use of the new till and stock system until you are confident in working alone. It is a very good way of getting to know others in the village and keeping up with the local news.
Stock team – we usually have two deliveries of stock a week at a time when the shop is closed. We aim to have two volunteers meet each delivery; one to place the stock on the shelves and the other to input the new stock onto the stock control system. Depending on the size of the delivery this might take about an hour. Our team of 7 could use a couple more volunteers to provide more flexibility.
Marshalling – we have a volunteer on duty at weekends and bank holidays to supervise the (younger) weekend counter staff. It would be helpful to have at least one more volunteer as cover.
If you would like to have a chat about any of these posts please either e-mail the shop – firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01929 472000 and someone will get back to you.
Thank you for supporting your local shop, run by the community, for the community.
The Briantspuddle Shop and Post Office is situated in the centre of the village next to the village Hall. It was once a granary, hence the arched base. Walk to the rear of the building and you will find the welcoming open door and some handrails to steady your wallet hand. It opens every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Fresh meat is now available from Curtis’ in Wareham and can be ordered in advance – pictures below
We are pleased to announce that the shop can now accept payment by card (contactless or by using your PIN) and phone. This makes it even easier to come and spend your money!
Only one customer may now be in the shop at one time in order to observe social distancing. Please arrive by the front door of the hall using an elbow on the disabled button and follow the route below observing 2 metre (6 feet) distancing. There is now a light system with green for enter and red for wait which can be seen from the Jubilee room lobby door. When it is green go into the shop wearing a face covering and still observing 2 metre (6 feet) distancing.
After you have finished please leave by the normal passageway to the road. Sanitise or wash hands as soon as you can and before touching your face. It may seem a bit over the top to some but this is necessary so please do it.
We are currently offering a newspaper delivery service for those who are self-isolating, this is free of charge. Please contact us via email@example.com for more details and to put in your order.
