The Gathering is a powerful new play from Dorset based writers Gill and Tony Horitz, based on letters and other found artefacts telling the story of two Dorset soldiers who fought in World War 1 – Will Cutler of Hinton Martel and Hubert Wareham of Wimborne Minster, and two people closely involved in their lives – Will’s wife, Tillie, and the Vicar of Wimborne Minster, Reverend James Fletcher.
Intensely moving, The Gathering is both a moving love story and a message of resilience and hope. These performances will be preceded by a screening of ‘Tommy’s Sisters‘, a short film about five women in 1916. Suitable for 12+.
1918/1940s tea dance with a small exhibition of WW1 artefacts and readings of war poetry. There will be a prize for the best 1918/1940s outfit.
