Evening Lecture Series

The Anglo-German Naval Race 1897-1914

Briantspuddle Village Hall

7:30pm, 15th May 2019

An illustrated Talk by John Tozer (of the Western Front Association)

The talk examines why the Kaiser developed an obsession with building an overseas empire with a navy to match. John expands on the British response to what it sees as a direct challenge to its naval supremacy. The chain of events will see old foes become allies, the ramifications of which are still evident today.

John lives in the Briantspuddle and has given many previous talks, including, ‘Bere Regis and the War at Sea 1914-1918’ which examined the part played by the men of the parish who served in the Royal Navy.

Starting at 7:30 pm, Admission £3, includes tea coffee biscuits.
(A glass of wine will be available at cost)
