The parish boasts a fairly active community with various organisations centred on use of the Briantspuddle Village Hall. There is also a private members club located on the same site as the hall.
A volunteer run small shop/post office is in Briantspuddle next to the Village Hall otherwise the parish relies on the neighbouring villages of Bere Regis, Puddletown, Wool, Crossways and Bovington for that little bit more. The county town of Dorchester and the market towns of Wareham and Blandford Forum are within relatively easy reach for weekly shopping and Poole and Bournemouth are not that far away with their city centre stores and trading estates.
The local economy is based largely on forestry and farming and to some extent this is reflected in the parish, though several farms have diversified into other activities to help balance the books. Other work within the parish is provided by watercress production, a light metal fabrication factory, a software support company and self employment.
